Expedia - OneKey Traveller Loyalty Program

This article explains the OneKey Traveller Loyalty Program from Expedia, and how this impacts you as an accommodation partner and on what payment setup you need to be in order to have the best experience.

Expedia's One Key is a unified travel rewards program that integrates Expedia, Hotels.com, and Vrbo into a single loyalty system. Launched in the U.S. in July 2023 and expanding globally in 2024, it replaces the individual rewards programs previously offered by these brands.

🎁 How One Key Works

  • OneKeyCash: The program's rewards currency, OneKeyCash, is earned on eligible bookings and can be redeemed for future travel. Members earn:

    • 2% back on eligible hotels, vacation rentals, car rentals, cruises, activities, and packages.

    • 0.2% back on eligible flights.

  • Tiered Status: Membership tiers are based on "trip elements," which include components like hotel nights, flight segments, and car rental days. The tiers are:

    • Blue: 0–4 trip elements.

    • Silver: 5–14 trip elements.

    • Gold: 15–29 trip elements.

    • Platinum: 30+ trip elements.

  • VIP Access Properties: Members booking stays at VIP Access properties can earn higher OneKeyCash rates and enjoy additional perks such as room upgrades and exclusive discounts.

The loyalty program works in conjunction with Expedia’s Expedia Collect payment program, which allows them to especially run the redeeming of OneKey’s loyalty program points. Basically the traveller then pays in points to Expedia Group, and Expedia Group as for a normal reservation, paying out the accommodation partner via virtual credit card or bank transfer.

NextPax Recommendation towards OneKey Loyalty Program.

The official NextPax recommendation is therefore that accommodation partners, to take most benefit of the OneKey Loyalty Program of Expedia Group per channel the following advise

For Expedia, join the payment programs of Expedia Group called Expedia Collect. In this way travellers cannot only earn points, but also redeem points, which is of vital importance. As Expedia’s user group will continuously book properties they will start to earn large sums of points, if an accommodation partner is then not visible to book with points, because they are not on Expedia Collect Payment Program, these partners will lose out of Expedia’s most loyal customers.
