Airbnb Onboarding — Partner Guide

A step-by-step, screenshot-driven guide for Property Managers connecting to Airbnb through NextPax. It covers only what's specific to Airbnb: connecting your Airbnb host account (there is no contract to sign), Airbnb's fixed cancellation-policy tiers, and the absence of a Promotions step. For the shared steps and the overall flow, see the Generic partner guide.

1. Overview & Scope

This guide covers what's specific to Airbnb when you onboard it through NextPax. It assumes you already understand how the onboarding wizard works in general — see the Generic partner guide first.

Good to know about the Airbnb connection:

  • There is no contract. Airbnb partner setup means connecting a host account — the step doesn't ask whether you have an existing contract, it goes straight to the account panel. See §3.
  • You authorise NextPax on Airbnb itself. You connect an existing Airbnb account (or create a new one), then log in on Airbnb via an authorization link and authorise NextPax — see §3.3.
  • Multiple host accounts are supported. You can add more host accounts at any time, also after onboarding — see §3.6.
  • Cancellation policies are a fixed Airbnb catalogue (Flexible / Moderate / Strict / Super Strict tiers) — see §5.
  • There is no Promotions step for Airbnb — see §6.
2. How onboarding works

No channel-specific behavior — see the Generic partner guide §2.

3. Partner Setup

The step is titled "Airbnb partner setup". Unlike other channels it asks no existing/new question — the account panel is the step:

Airbnb partner setup means connecting a host account. Make sure the prerequisites below are complete, then connect your Airbnb account — you'll be asked to log in and authorize NextPax. When you're back, hit "Re-check".

 

3.1 Prerequisites checklist

The step shows a ✓/✗ checklist of what Airbnb needs before your listings can go live — items like Invoicing details and At least one connected host account. Unfinished items list what's missing ("Missing: …"). Complete them, then hit Re-check (it shows Checking… while it refreshes).

3.2 Add a host account

Click Add host account. A dialog asks which case is yours:

  • I already have an Airbnb account — "We'll save it and give you an authorization link — log in there and authorize NextPax."
  • Create a new account on Airbnb — "We'll register it with Airbnb — they'll email the person to finish the activation."

3.3 Connect an existing Airbnb account

Fill in:

  • Airbnb user ID — the numeric user id; you find it in your Airbnb profile URL.
  • Email — the account's email.
  • Name (optional).
  • Grouping ID — office/grouping identifier; leave empty unless your account manager gave you one.

Click Connect account. On success:

The account was saved. Last step: the person logs in on Airbnb via the authorization link below and authorizes NextPax — then hit "Re-check".

Use Open the Airbnb authorization page (or Copy link to send it to the account holder). On the Airbnb page, log in and authorise NextPax. If the link could not be generated, the step says "The authorization link could not be generated — contact support to receive it."

3.4 Create a new account on Airbnb

The alternative path. Fill in Email, First name, Last name and Date of birth (Airbnb requires the account holder's date of birth). Click Create on Airbnb. On success:

Account created on Airbnb (user id …). Airbnb emailed … to finish the activation — once it's done, hit "Re-check".

Airbnb sends the activation email to the address you entered — the account holder finishes the activation there.

3.5 Re-check and completion

Once a host account is connected, hit Re-check — the step turns green:

Looks like your Airbnb partner setup is already arranged. Review it below, or continue to the next step.

There is no waiting period on the NextPax side — a connected host account completes the step immediately.

3.6 Manage your host accounts

Even when connected, the step stays open for review: "The current state of your Airbnb partner setup. You can add more host accounts here at any time." Each account row (name, email, ID) has a ⋯ menu:

  • Update host details — change name or grouping ID. The email cannot be changed here — use the Channel Settings page for a full edit.
  • Retrieve host info from Airbnb — refresh the account details from Airbnb.
  • Test token — verify the account's authorisation still works.
  • Authorization link — get the link again if the account holder still needs to authorise NextPax.
  • Delete host — removes the account after a confirmation. ⚠️ "Properties exported through this account will lose their connection."
4. Channel Settings

Standard settings step — see the Generic partner guide §4. Airbnb particulars:

  • No credentials to type in — your account link lives in Partner Setup (§3).
  • The Regulatory settings group is where Airbnb's required fields sit: your full name, the regulatory attestation checkbox and your business tax ID (plus country-specific fields such as a Spanish identification number or French residency category, where applicable).
  • Further groups cover booking behaviour (instant booking, request-to-book), content preferences, pricing and general settings.
5. Policy

Airbnb works with a fixed catalogue of cancellation policies — you pick one as your channel default:

  • Flexible
  • Moderate
  • Strict tiers, including Super Strict 30 (50% refund up to 30 days before arrival, then non-refundable) and Super Strict 60

Some tiers come in an additional variant available for Italy listings only; each option's description in the step explains its refund rules.

6. Promotions

This step does not appear for Airbnb. Your Airbnb pricing and any discounts are managed outside the wizard.

7. Other / Generic Steps

Account Setup, Rate Plans, Messaging, Enable channel and Enable properties work the standard way — see the Generic partner guide §7. Airbnb particulars:

  • The rate plan stays on the NextPax side. Airbnb doesn't take rate plans as such — the rate plan you save in the wizard (see Generic §7.2) carries your default cancellation policy, while prices and availability flow to Airbnb from your calendar and rates directly.
  • Messaging is worth switching on. The step itself works the standard way — see Generic §7.3. Airbnb particulars: messaging runs through the host account you connected in Partner Setup (§3) — the account must be authorised; and if you want Airbnb guest messages forwarded to your inbox, set the redirection email — without it Airbnb messages cannot be forwarded.
  • Going live has content requirements. When you enable properties, NextPax builds and publishes each listing on Airbnb. Airbnb rejects listings that fall short of its content rules — most commonly: at least 5 photos, a listing name of at most 50 characters, and no excessive capital letters in the name or descriptions. Fix the content and the listing publishes on the next update.
