Trip.com - Traveller Payments
This article describes how traveller payments work with Trip.com and what the implications are for property managers.
In many cases, Trip.com acts as the Merchant of Record (MoR) for bookings made through its platform.
This means Trip.com is responsible for charging the traveller’s credit card, collecting payment, and remitting the amount (minus commission or service fees) to the accommodation provider according to the payout schedule defined in the commercial agreement.
-
Trip.com handles all guest payments directly — including processing, refunds, and chargebacks.
-
The guest’s credit card details are not transmitted to NextPax or the property management system (PMS).
-
Trip.com invoices and pays the property or management company after check-out, following its agreed settlement cycle.
-
Local tax compliance (such as VAT or GST where applicable) is managed in accordance with Trip.com’s local merchant entity.
Trip.com offers two payout options to accommodation partners:
1. Pay out by bank transfer.
2. Pay out by virtual credit card.
