Channel Settings - Booking.com

This section describes the channel-settings that accommodation partners should complete when they are onboarding to Booking.com

This page informs you as the accommodation partner about the channel settings of Booking.com and how to fill this page in correctly. One can navigate to this page via Channels → Channel Settings, or via Channel - Channel Overview - Booking.com and then via the quick-link to Channel Settings. It will open this screen, with all the settings available for Booking.com:

The Booking.com Channel Settings have two tabs each with sections. First we concentrate on the actual Channel Settings: We will now go over each section to explain what the settings are used for.

Booking.com Quick Connect Widget

The yellow box called 'Connect existing properties on Booking.com to NextPax'. This is the Booking.com Quick Connect Widget. It will take the accommodation partner towards the Booking.com Extranet to connect existing properties already advertised on Booking.com onto NextPax channel manager. Once the accommodation partners has selected NextPax as the channel manager in the Booking.com Extranet, they can continue in NextPax Core here under: Connect Properties.

Other Channel Settings

Allow for Long Stays: Here you can indicate if you allow for long-stay bookings, and set that allowance either on: up till 45, 60, 75 or 90 days. Remember that if you select this, it only can work if you as an accommodation partner also provide long-stay pricing & availability. Suggested is to make a particular Long Stay rate-plan & cancellation policy for this pricing and availability to be hosted on.

Hotelier Message Here the accommodation partner can set a particular message often referenced as an 'about us' - which is supported in the following languages. This 'about us' should go about the partner and not the properties.

Channel Settings

Combined Tax Codes: In case the accommodation partner would like to combine a couple of tax codes together, they can group them here.

Rent Price preference: Here, either the rent price can be set at Rent Total (default) or Guest Total.

Commission percent: Please enter your agreed commission percentage. If you operate multiple percentages across different countries take the average.

Auto Cancel Invalid CC Bookings: Only for partners that are not on Payments by Booking.com, but are collecting traveller credit cards. This is a functionality of the Booking.com Invalid Credit Card reporting capability. At the end, if after the 2nd time the credit card provision is also false, enabling this functionality, will automatically cancel the reservation from the property manager side.

Collect CVC Code - Only for partners that are not on Payments by Booking.com, but are collecting traveller credit cards. For conversion it is better not to ask the guest to enter their CVC code, however operationally not always wishful, since the payment providers are asking often for the CVC code. Our advice is too, unless completely pre-empted with your payment service provider to still collect the CVC code, and put this on YES.

Combined Tax Codes: Tick this functionality if as accommodation partner you would like to combine a few tax codes together. Provide the combined tax codes in the selector described earlier.

Room Level Additional Fees - This is especially for multi-unit accommodations with room/house types that operate different fees on room-type level. If enabled we will export the fees on unit-type level, if they are different from the ones at multi-unit (hotel, resort, holiday park) level.

Accept only Cash Payments (Yes/No): This functionality is there, in case the accommodation partner would like to onboarded to Payments by Booking - Bank Transfer. It requires first, all the properties to be set as Cash Payments only, in order to activate the eligibility in the Booking.com Extranet to join Payments by Booking - Bank Transfer.

Hide Property Address (Yes/No) If enabled, the address of the accommodations will be hidden before booking. Generally it is better for conversion to put this functionality on NO, but in case an accommodation partner wishes to do so it can be done here.

Enable Smart Ordering (Yes/No) If enabled, the accommodation partner gives complete freedom to Booking.com to order the pictures as they see fit, differently than the order provided by us. The benefit of this is that they are able to showcase their users the photos they are more triggered by, due to their in-depth knowledge of the traveller behaviour.

Profile Settings

Host location: This is to mention whether the host is living offsite or on the site, set as a property manager level condition, applied over all properties.

Is company profile? If yes is applied, the profile is a business profile with Booking.com (an official company). If no, it is a personal profile about a host renting out an accommodation

Standard Phrases

These standard phrases are part of the Fine Print section on the Booking.com advertisements, and here you can click those standard phrases that apply to all properties. This functionality is also available on property level, if you wish to distinguish property specific standard phrases. You can explore the different phrases by hovering over the information icon next to the text.

General Settings

Here under general settings the accommodation partner can decide what pricing model should be used for their properties and whether description types 'remarks' should be prioritised in the Your Profile Section on Booking.com.

Pricing Models supported are Length of Stay Pricing (LOS) and Occupancy Based Pricing (OBP) (Daily Rates based per occupancy). LOS is more often used within vacation rentals organisations, while OBP is more used by hotels & resorts.

Regulation Settings - France

For accommodation partners that operate France, extra regulation settings are required. Booking.com needs to understand the answers on the following questions.

1. Do you declare revenues as professional for direct tax purposes (see article 155 IV du CGI)?

2. Do you have a VAT registered for this activity?

3. Are you registered as a professional at the trade commercial register (Registre du Commerce et des Sociétés)?

In case you are not able to check one of these 3 checkboxes, you need to select how you identify yourselves as a business in the drop down above the three questions.
