Booking.com is perhaps one of the channels offering one of the widest varieties of consumer payment options towards the property managers and hotel organisations. This article will explain shortly - what each model entails.
Payments by Booking (Hybrid) Booking.com's most advanced payment program is the Hybrid model, whereby they allow both for normal credit card payments and alternative payment methods (iDeal, Sofort, ApplePay, AliPay and many others). Booking.com, in case, the traveler selects to "Pay Now" or pay via an alternative method, they will take the payment from the traveller and offer it via a Virtual Credit Card to you. NextPax is able as a PCI certified provider to capture the virtual credit card and to forward it to:
- PCI certified property managers, hotel organisations, CRS, PMS systems.
- Work with the PSP (Payment Service Provider) of the property manager/hotel organisation.
Normal CC Payments With this payment method the property is Merchant of Record (MOR) and it becomes the properties responsibility to charge the traveller's credit card. As a PCI certified provider NextPax will receive all the credit card details, and can forward these details to:
- PCI certified property managers, hotel organisations, CRS, PMS systems.
- Work with the PSP (Payment Service Provider) of the property manager/hotel organisation.
Payments by Booking (Exclusive) In this payment model Booking.com is charging the traveller's credit card or is getting the reservation costs via an alternative choice of payment made by the guest. If a property joins the exclusive model, the payout of the reservation costs, minus commission, is made by bank transfer - on the check-in date.
Cash-Only in combination with Payment Link In case you don't accept credit cards at all, and are not part of Payments by Booking, you can be identified as cash-only property at Booking.com. This is very unfavourable towards the property manager, since a booking is instantly confirmed - however there are no credit card details on file (missing form of payment). NextPax's advice towards property managers is to invest in either joining Payments by Booking (Exclusive) - or further invest - in a Payment Service Provider, to allow for virtual credit card payments.
